GINTONG PAMANA: Dagiti Napili nga Umawat iti Maui Filipino Chamber Foundation Awards Scholarships




WAILUKU, Hawaii – The Maui Filipino Chamber of Commerce Foundation announces its 2016 scholarship recipients.
The Foundation will award scholarships to 14 graduating High School seniors and one student from the University of Hawaii Maui College Maui Culinary Academy.
“The scholars are all outstanding, having excelled academically and in extra-curricular community activities,” said Kit Zulueta, president of the Foundation. “We thank our partners and those who helped us raise funds from our golf tournament last month for allowing this to happen.”
The 2016 scholars are:
  • Charwin Kenneth ANDAYA will receive a $1,000 Maui Filipino Chamber Foundation Scholarship. Andaya will major in Kinesiology at University of Hawaii at Manoa. He was graduated from Maui HS and is the son of Charwin Ganosa and Eden Andaya.
  • Sherylynne ANDRADA will receive a $1,000 Maui Filipino Chamber Foundation Scholarship. Andrada will major in Biology at University of Hawaii at Manoa. She was graduated from Maui HS and is the daughter of Manuel Andrada and Florgieli Andrada.
  • Jamie ADVINCULA will receive a $1,000 Maui Filipino Chamber Foundation/San Juan Mayor Guia Gomez Scholarship Scholarship. Advincula will major in Business-Entrepreneurship/Marketing at Brown University. She was graduated from Maui Preparatory Academy and is the daughter of Juan Advincula and Dominga Advincula.
  • Alssie Marie Jean CASAYURAN will receive the $1,000 Maui Filipino Chamber Foundation/Maui Cozy Island Dental Scholarship. Casayuran will major in Biology at Pacific University. She was graduated from Maui HS and is the daughter of Alfonso Casayuran, Jr. and Jessebel Dolores Pajela Casayuran.
  • Thomas Takeo Macadangdang HAYASHI will receive a $1,000 Maui Filipino Chamber Foundation Scholarship. Hayashi will major in Environmental Science, Philosophy at Santa Clara University. He was graduated from Seabury Hall and is the son of Duane Takeo Hayashi and Agnes Macadangdang Hayashi.
  • Kaylee K. HARMON will receive a $1,000 Maui Filipino Chamber Foundation Scholarship. Harmon will major in Business Management at Western Oregon University. She was graduated from Lahainaluna HS and is the daughter of Dennis Harmon and Michelle Harmon.
  • Alyssa HERNANDEZ SUMIBCAY will receive a $1,000 Maui Filipino Chamber Foundation. Hernandez Sumibcay will major in Nursing at University of Hawaii at Manoa. She was graduated from H.P. Baldwin HS and is the daughter of Joroel Sumibcay and Michaelline Hernandez.
  • Micah LEVAL will receive the $1,000 Maui Filipino Chamber Foundation/Richard Caldito, Sr. Scholarship. Leval will major in Political Economy at University of Hawaii at Manoa. He was graduated from St. Anthony Junior-Senior HS and is the son of Randal Leval and Joni Leval.
  • Nicole Kirsten Supnet NEILSON will receive a $1,000 Maui Filipino Chamber Foundation Scholarship. Neilson will major in Business at Saint Martin’s University. She was graduated from St. Anthony Junior-Senior HS and is the daughter of Ray Neilson and Sarah Neilson.
  • Dean OMURA will receive a $1,000 Maui Filipino Chamber Foundation Scholarship. Omura will major in Mechanical Engineering at University of Portland. He was graduated from Lahainaluna HS and is the son of Ulrich Okura Kirkegaard and Nelde Okura Kirkegaard.
  • Tara-Ann Marie PACUBAS will receive a $1,000 Maui Filipino Chamber Foundation/San Juan Mayor Guia Gomez Scholarship. Pacubas will major in Biological Engineering at University of Hawaii at Manoa. She was graduated from Maui HS and is the daughter of Roland Pacubas and Maria Carmela Pacubas.
  • Althea Mae Kaohu R. PITTMAN will receive a $1,000 Maui Filipino Chamber Foundation Scholarship. Pittman will major in Computer Science at University of Hawaii at Manoa. She was graduated from H.P. Baldwin HS and is the daughter of Jeffrey Craig Pittman and Josie Rabang Pittman.
  • Joshua Kainoa Pulmano SCHWARTZLOW will receive a $1,000 Maui Filipino Chamber Foundation Scholarship. Schwartzlow will major in Major at Saint Martin’s University. He was graduated from St. Anthony Junior-Senior HS and is the son of Karl Schwartzlow and Ailene Schwartzlow.
  • Alyssa Michiko YOSHIMURA will receive the $1,000 Maui Filipino Chamber Foundation/Antonio Fartan Ayson Family Scholarship. Yoshimura will major in Education at University of Portland. She was graduated from Maui HS and is the daughter of Gary Yoshimura and Michele Yoshimura.
  • Jayford AGBAYANI will receive the $1,000 Maui Filipino Chamber Foundation/Maui Culinary Academy Scholarship. Agbayani has been enrolled in the Maui Culinary Arts Academy since the Fall 2015 semester. He graduated from Ilocos Norte College of Arts and Trades in the Philippines in 2005.
